Creation and genesis
The association "Les Amis de Pauline Jaricot" is a Catholic association born in the diocese of Lyon, in April 2010, from the will of a group of friends from the house of Lorette, under the presidency of Monsignor Thierry Brac of the Perrière auxiliary bishop of Lyon.
In May 2005, the Pontifical Mission Societies restored Lorette's house, in which Pauline Jaricot lived for many years and died there in 1862; this house will become a place of memory, prayer, mission.
In 2007, a few volunteers, loyal to the house of Lorette, met with the desire to form a small reflection group to publicize Pauline Jaricot. This beautiful Lyon figure is still little known today in France and in Lyon. She worked at the beginning of the XIXth century, at the end of the French revolution, for a renewal of evangelization by her innovative actions in favor of missions in the world, for greater social justice at the service of workers, with the development of a universal and fraternal prayer.
Pauline Jaricot was declared Venerable by Pope John XXIII in 1962.
“This Tuesday, May 26, 2020, Pope Francis authorized the publication of the miracle decree attributed to the intercession of the Venerable Pauline Jaricot, which decree was published today. "
While waiting for Pauline's actual beatification, we can truly be in thanksgiving and thank all those who have worked for this cause.
Pauline-Marie Jaricot, "Mother of the Missions " is a lay person, a prophetic figure for the world of today and the challenges of the new Evangelization.
